Pare sia...uno sasso-spasso!

Qualcuno di voi ha mai letto il libro "La collina dei conigli" di Richard Adams?
In questo romanzo che narra le vicende di un gruppo di conigli alla ricerca della libertà, si parla del gioco "sasso-spasso", un passatempo molto semplice e divertente: uno dei due giocatori nasconde dietro la schiena un certo numero di sassi mentre l'altro ne deve indovinare il numero.
Impropriamente ho utilizzato lo stesso termine anche per la mia creazione perchè lo "spasso" in questo caso è dato dal dipingere e dare vita a un sasso. E' il mio primo esperimento di pittura a tutto tondo, se così la vogliamo definire, e sebbene abbia ancora bisogno di perfezionamenti, il risultato non è per nulla deludente!

Have you ever read the novel "Watership Down" by Richard Adams?
This book is about the adventures of a group of rabbits in serch of freedom; in their spare time they always listen to short stories or play to "sasso-spasso" (I didn't find the right translation for this terms...sorry!): one of the two players hide behind his back some stones and the other one have to guess the number of these.
 I use this word improperly to define my creation just because I have fun to make it ("spasso" in Italian mens fun and "sasso" means stone)! It's my first experiment of painting in round and even if I have to improve my technique, the result is not so bad for me!

Il gufetto, regalo per un'amica che ama questo animale, è stato dipinto con i colori acrilici e accompagnato infine da un piccolo biglietto.

 The little owl was a gift for a friend of mine and was painted with acrylics; I also gave her a greeting card!

Pare sia...un sasso che barrisce!

La mia CollegaSCN adora gli elefanti: sono i suoi animali preferiti e da un po' di anni ha iniziato a collezionare oggetti con la loro immagine visto che, come è noto, gli elefanti vengono considerati anche dei portafortuna (se non ricordo male c'entra anche la posizione della proboscide...).
Pochi giorni fa c'è stato il suo compleanno e ne ho approffittato per arricchire di un nuovo elemento (naturalmente handmade!) la sua collezione.

My CollegaSCN loves elephants: they are her favourite animals and since some years she has begun to collect objects with their picture. As everybody knows, elephants are ranked as good luck charms (if I don't get wrong it has something to do with the position of the trunk...) so that's a good reason to collect them!
A few days ago there was her birthday and I took the chance to enrich her collection with a new member (obviously handmade!).

Alla mia collega è piaciuto tantissimo e da questo regalo ci è venuta l'idea di allestire un piccolo laboratorio con i bambini per farli divertire a colorare i sassi. E' ancora solo un'idea ma spero possa trovare un'effettiva attuazione!
E adesso raccontatemi: siete anche voi dei collezionisti? Quali e quanti oggetti avete custodito gelosamente?

She likes it very much and we decided to organize a little art workshop for children which will be about painting stones. I hope it will come out good!

Pare sia...una farfalla in una busta!

La mia AmicaViaggiatrice, come il nome stesso dice, ama viaggiare. E lo fa di solito proprio in questa stagione visto che il suo lavoro non le permette di ritagliarsi delle ferie estive.
Le sue mete sono calde ed esotiche (ovviamente deve rifarsi del tempo perduto!) e quella di quest'anno non è da meno: ha scelto infatti l'Egitto, fra sabbia, mare, templi antichi e musei.

A me, a fine viaggio, arrivano i suoi racconti, le sue foto e i suoi souvenirs con cui posso almeno sognare quelle destinazioni così ricche di fascino.

Così per ringraziarla di ricordarsi sempre di me le ho preparato questo sasso dipinto:

Il soggetto, non a caso, è una farfalla Monarca (Danaus plexippus): nonostante sia così fragile, questo insetto è capace di compiere lunghe migrazioni e per questo mi ha subito ricordato l'aspetto e il carattere della mia amica.

Per sottolineare il carattere ramingo dell'opera l'ho "impacchettata" in una bustina realizzata con un vecchio depliant.

My TravelFriend, as the word says, loves to travel. She usually does it in this period because she can't go on vacation in summer due to her job.

Her favoutite destinations are warm and sunny places and the one of this year is Egypt, among sand, sun, ancient temples and museums.

At the end of the journey she brings to me her experiences, photos and souvenirs with that I can at least dream about this far and charming destinations.

She always remembers me, that's why I want to thank her with this painted pebble.

The subject is a Monarca butterfly (Danaus plexippus): even if it is so fragile, this bugs is able to travel for long distances and for this reason it has remebered me the appearance and the character of my friend.

To enphasize the wandering character of my creation, I packed the pebble in a little envelope which I realized from an old leaflet.

Pare sia...un gufo!

L'estate è ormai finita da un pezzo ma questo lavoro che vi sto per mostrare me la ricorda tanto... Si tratta di un piccolo sasso dipinto con colori acrilici ed è uno dei miei primi esperimenti di pittura su sassi. Non è tanto il soggetto, un gufo, a farmi sentire la nostalgia dell'estate, quanto il ricordo del luogo dove ho raccolto la mia "tela".

Infatti è uno dei tanti piccoli pezzi di montagna che formano il greto del fiume Isonzo che io, mia sorella Gotlin e la nostra cagnolina Zoe amiamo frequentare d'estate. Qui da noi ancora non ci sono spiagge attrezzate per cani (apparte quella di Lignano ma troppo lontana da raggiungere per noi) e quindi la nostra meta preferita è appunto il fiume.

Sole, natura, acqua limpida e la compagnia di un cane...cosa volere di più?

Summer has long gone but the work I will show you in a while reminds me of it... I'm talking about an acrylic painted pepple and it's one of my first experiments of painted rocks. It's not the subject, an owl, that makes me think of summer but the memory of the place I took my "canvas".

This is one of the thousands little pieces of montain that form the Isonzo's shore where me, my sister Gotlin and our dog Zoe had fun in summer. In our region there aren't equipped beaches for dogs yet (besides the one of Lignano which is too far for us) so the river is for sure our favourite destination.

Sun, nature, clear water and the company of a dog... what else could we desire?
